Course Overview

This course dives into the essential aspects of Microsoft 365 administration: tenant management, identity synchronization, and security and compliance.

Tenant Management You'll learn how to configure your Microsoft 365 tenant, including organizational profiles, subscription options, component services, user accounts and licenses, security groups, and administrative roles. We also focus on configuring Office client connectivity and managing user-driven installations of Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise deployments.

Identity Synchronization We'll explore Azure Active Directory Connect and Connect Cloud Sync, teaching you how to plan, implement, and manage these directory synchronization options. You'll also learn about password management in Microsoft 365, using multifactor authentication and self-service password management.

Security Management We start by examining common threat vectors and data breaches. You’ll learn how Microsoft 365’s security solutions address these threats, including an introduction to Microsoft Secure Score and Azure Active Directory Identity Protection. You'll manage Microsoft 365 security services like Exchange Online Protection, Safe Attachments, and Safe Links, and use various reports to monitor organizational security health. We'll cover threat intelligence with tools like Microsoft 365 Defender, Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

Compliance Management You’ll get an overview of data governance, including data archiving, retention, Microsoft Purview message encryption, and data loss prevention (DLP). We dive deeper into archiving, retention, insider risk management, information barriers, and DLP policies, teaching you how to implement these compliance features using data classification and sensitivity labels.

Audience Profile

This course is ideal for those aspiring to be Microsoft 365 Administrators and who have completed at least one of the Microsoft 365 role-based administrator certification paths.

Prerequisites

Before attending, students should have:

• Completed a role-based administrator course such as Messaging, Teamwork, Security, Compliance, or Collaboration.

• A proficient understanding of DNS and basic functional experience with Microsoft 365 services.

• A proficient understanding of general IT practices.

• A working knowledge of PowerShell.
