What’s New in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Why MSPs Should Care

Copilot is moving fast. The latest round of updates is one of the biggest so far, with new AI models, memory, app building, automation and deeper use of business data.

Your customers will hear about these changes soon. Some will ask what they mean. Others will want to know if they should be using them. Either way, it’s a chance for you to be the partner with the answers.

Here’s a plain English rundown of what’s new.

More AI models inside Copilot

Copilot now draws on a wider range of AI models, so customers get more choice for different types of work.

  • Grok from xAI is being added to Copilot. It’s currently available in Frontier.
  • Anthropic Opus 5 is now available across Copilot.
  • Anthropic Fable 5.1 has been added to Cowork.
  • OpenAI GPT 6 Astra has been added to Cowork.

What it means for your customers: Copilot can use the model that suits the task. Customers don’t need to switch between separate tools to get it.

Copilot that remembers

Copilot can now use chat history and memory to personalise its responses. Users won’t have to repeat the same background every time they ask for help.

What it means for your customers: Answers become more relevant the more people use Copilot. That’s a strong reason for adoption and ongoing use.

Build apps without a developer

This is the update that opens the most doors for partners. There are two new ways to build apps.

  • App Builder: a new Microsoft agent that builds basic apps for internal use. The apps live inside the App Builder agent console.
  • App skill in Cowork: a new skill that builds and publishes basic apps from a plain English description.

What it means for your customers: A team that needs a simple tracker, request form or internal tool can describe it and have it built. No developer and no long project.

What it means for you: Customers will still need help working out what to build, setting it up properly and keeping it secure. That’s a service you can offer.

Automation that starts on its own

Cowork now supports automations that are triggered by a specific event. Instead of someone starting a task by hand, the workflow runs when something happens.

What it means for your customers: Less manual follow up, fewer missed steps and more time back in the week.

Smarter answers with Power BI

Copilot Chat and Cowork can now use Power BI for reasoning when they respond to a prompt. Answers can draw on the customer’s own business data, not just documents and emails.

What it means for your customers: Better answers to questions about sales, performance and trends, without digging through reports.

Where the opportunity is for MSPs

Each of these updates gives you a reason to start a conversation with your customers.

  • Adoption: help customers get real value from the Copilot licences they already pay for
  • App building: scope, build and support internal apps
  • Automation: design workflows that save customers time
  • Data and reporting: connect Power BI so Copilot gives answers customers can act on

All of these services build recurring value on top of the licence, which makes your customer relationships stickier.

See it live with Hedy

There’s more to these updates than one blog can cover. Hedy Musa will walk through them, and a few others, in our upcoming webinar. She’ll explain what they mean for your customers and where the real opportunities are for MSPs.
